Tribeca Film Festival 2011

The Tribeca Film Festival was founded 10 years ago by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff after the September 11 attacks in order to promote economic growth in lower Manhattan and showcase New York as a major film making centre.

As this will be my first Tribeca Film Festival I don't know that much about it, but I wanted to let you all know when it is on and how to get tickets so you don't miss out!  The festival takes place in downtown Manhattan from April 20th-May 1st and festival passes and ticket packages are on sale now.  Single tickets are available to the general public from Monday 18th April, but if you are an AMEX card holder or a downtown resident (below Canal Street) you can purchase tickets earlier.

The films are showing at a variety of downtown theatres at various times throughout the day.  They are offering cheaper tickets for matinee and late night performances, with single ticket packages starting at $39.
