Where is home?

I have just got back from a trip to the UK and preparations for the Olympic Games and The Queens Diamond Jubilee are in full swing.  There are lots of exciting events coming up over the next few months and I must admit I almost didn't want to come back to New York at the end of my trip.

There is a great sense of British pride in the country at the moment, and it was lovely to see so many British flags flying.  The shops are full of 'Team GB' and Olympic merchandise, so I bought a few bits to bring home with me so I feel part of the whole experience even though I won't be there.

Although I am really enjoying my New York adventure, it can be hard living as an expat in another country.  I sometimes feel as if I missing out on events happening in the UK, both personally and nationally.  Each time I go back I know less and less about current events and popular culture, which can make me feel out of the UK loop.

I think it's perfectly normal to feel this way now and again, and I wouldn't change my circumstances as I love living in the US.  However, the longer I am living out of the UK the more I question 'where is home'?
