'16 Handles' Frozen Yogurt

There is nothing quite like an ice cream to cool you down on a hot summer's day, and one of my favourite places to go is '16 Handles'.  Although it's not actually ice cream, but frozen yogurt, you won't be able to tell the difference.

It's called '16 Handles' because there are always 16 different flavours of yogurt available.  It is self-serve, you choose your cup size, pick your flavor and pull the handle to fill it up! They have a great selection of flavours, including 'NY Cheesecake', 'Birthday Cake', 'Red velvet cake' as well as the traditional favourites.  Nutritional information is available at each handle, so you can make an informed decision when choosing your flavour.  They have lots of low fat and lower calorie option, so you can have a treat without feeling too guilty!

However, I think the best part about '16 Handles' is the toppings bar.  They have a huge choice of fruits, syrups and dry toppings, like fudge, various forms of chocolate, nuts and sweets.  It's so funny watching the kids pile on the toppings, often you can't tell they have yogurt in their bowls!

The yogurt and toppings are weighed, so the more you have the more it costs.  You can get a decent sized yogurt with toppings for under $5 though.  They also have rewards cards where you collect stamps for a free serving.

I'm a big fan of this place and often go to the locations on the Upper West Side.  For more information and to find a shop near you, visit http://16handles.com/index.php.
